Avatar Ugliness–Fixed

When you first sign up and enter Second Life, you are going to be so ugly. You are forced to choose between a small selection of avis. And you are stuck with that until you buy another shape/skin and hair. Also there is the stilted way your avatar will move until you buy a decent animation override. Free and cheap ones really won’t do. You can go along with some of the cheap hairs until you can afford something nice. And your hands and feet. Notice them…. ick.

So I bought a shape for $99L from the MP (MarketPlace) and then set off in my noob clothes to Vista Animations. I bought an AO named Rachel for $1900L. Moving a whole lot better, I moved on to Slink. They sell hands, feet, shapes and apparel to go with them. I bought a pair of casual hands for $450L and both the flat and high feet for $675L each. Also bought the Ankle Lock for $0L. And after fixing the tones on the hands and feet to match (as best as I could) my arms and legs, I was set to walk around.

You don’t have to do this of course. You can not spend a single cent and still do almost everything in SL. But to me, part of the fun is making my avi look the way I want it to.

After this, I found a decent dress to wear for a little bit and I was off looking for a place to live. I love having my own place to rez things. When I don’t have a place I always use the Little Blue Fermi public sandbox. You can get and rez a balloon which acts as a personal dressing room.

I was amazed at the people that were wanting to help me when I landed on their property that was advertised for rent. It was nice in one way, but in another way a bit annoying. I was pleasant back to them, so a little bit of chatter along the way.

I really don’t want to pay more than $350L per week for a home. And would rather pay less than $300L. But we shall see if I can find a home for that. And it is so hard to find decent places that will give you prims. But it’s fun looking!
